Associated Societies of the ICE are crucial to the Institution's 'learned society' function, contributing to our knowledge base across a wide range of specialist areas, within the diverse arena of the built and natural environment.
The Associated Societies exist to foster continuing professional development and the exchange of knowledge and experience between engineers by way of technical papers and discussions, site visits to engineering works, and informal meetings and discussions about specialist areas of engineering.
There are 13 Associated Societies administered by the Institution. Many are non-ICE members, thus providing a benefit to ICE members whilst bringing non-members into the Institution. A number of Associated Societies are British sections of international and/or European bodies. The links to the Institution in some cases go back more than 35 years. The Societies are:
