ICE therefore ensures that professional qualification and membership is open to all who meet its standards.

Equality and Diversity at ICE


As both a membership organisation and an employer, ICE is committed to diversity. We value the diversity that individuals with differing backgrounds, skills, and abilities bring to the Institution. We will endeavour to foster an environment free from harassment and unfair discrimination in which individual potential can be cultivated, so that everyone associated with the Institution can act against prejudice with open and critical minds.

A key theme in our business plan is to improve accessibility to the Institution for all groups. It is our policy to:

  • increase awareness of equal opportunities through training and the media
  • research and reduce obstacles to equal opportunities
  • challenge and root out discrimination if it occurs
  • monitor and keep under review ICE policies and practices within the Institution to ensure the promotion of equal opportunities.

This policy applies to members of all grades, employees and applicants. ICE also actively encourages its members to promote diversity in their workplace's Equality & Diversity Panel.

The Equality & Diversity Panel has replaced the former ICEFLOE Committee as the ICE's equal opportunities panel.

Any grade of member can contact the Equality and Diversity Panel on equal opportunities issues. Each region has an Equality and Diversity Representative and each member of the Equality and Diversity Panel has a specific area of interest. If we cannot help immediately we will research the issue and provide a response as soon as possible.
