About ICE: ICE promotes the art and science of civil engineering and qualifies professional people working in the industry. We believe that civil engineering is at the heart of our society.

About BRE: the BRE Trust uses profits made by the BRE Group to fund new research and education programmes that will help it meet its goal of 'building a better world together'.

Terms and conditions

1. The Competition opens on 14 March 2013 and will end at midnight on 1 July 2013 (“Competition Period”). No entries received outside the Competition Period will be eligible.

2. Entrants should submit photos of ‘Future Cities buildings’ through the form on the future cities ICE webpage or to thisis@ice.org.uk or on memory stick or CD to ‘Future Cities’, Marketing, ICE, One Great George Street, London, SW1P 3AA. Entrants must provide current contact details with their submission. Internet access is required. Photos must be in either .jpeg, or .gif file image of printing quality, between 1-5 MB (minimum 2000 x 1500 pixels although higher is encouraged, preferably uncompressed), stating the title for the image under which the photo is being entered.

3. Entrants must be between 8 and 19 years old (before the competition closing date of 1 July 2013) and not a family member of an employee, an agent or a director of the ICE Group or BRE Trust. The Promoters (ICE and BRE Trust) reserve the right to verify the eligibility of applications.

4. Entrants may enter the Competition as many times as they like (within reasonable limits as decided by ICE and BRE Trust) but each photograph entry should be substantially different. Each submission:
a. must be suitable for display and publication online and should not be obscene or indecent (including but not limited to nudity, pornography or profanity), it must not contain defamatory statements (including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group), it must not include threats to any person, place, business or group, it must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity, and it must not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations or network standards;
b. must not contain any copyrighted works (other than as owned by the entrant); and
c. must be recorded digitally so as to be able to be submitted in accordance with clause 2 of these terms and conditions.

5. In consideration of the Promoters granting entrants a right to enter the competition, each entrant automatically grants to the Promoters the right to use their submission in connection with the Promotion in any and all media, including the Promoters' websites during the Competition and thereafter. The use of a submission in any media other than the website shall include the following credit: [© 2013 entrant's name].

6. If any group of people or organisation elects to collaborate on a submission, they are required to designate one person as the agent of the group to enter the Competition, agree to these terms and conditions and accept any of the prizes on behalf of the group.

7. Incomplete, delayed or corrupted entries or those not in accordance with the entry instructions will not be accepted. The promoters take no responsibility for damage or loss resulting from misdirected or incomplete entries arising from computer functions, viruses, bugs or other causes outside its control.

8. Responsibility is not accepted for any entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of network, computer hardware or software failures of any kind. Proof of uploading/sending entries is not proof of receipt

9. The Judges will choose three winners – one fromin each of the following age categories: 8-11 years, 12-15 years and 16-19 years (providing that there is at least oneare enough entrants in each category). The prizes consist of the following:
a. First prize: A family trip on the London Eye (for four persons or fewer of value up to £100 booked before 31 December 2013) for the three first-prize winning entrants
b. Second prize: A guided tour of the BRE Innovation Park, for the three second-prize winning entrants (each with up to three guests) which must be booked before December 2013.
c. Third prize: A 12 by 16 inch canvas print of their picture for the three third-prize winning entrants
d. Runners up: ‘Goodie bags’ of miscellaneous gifts (value not specified) for the 2 runner-up entrants in each age category as specified above

10. A panel of judges from the ICE and BRE Trust organisations will select the winning entries and will be solely responsible for selecting the winning photos.

11. The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

12. The Promoters reserve the right to substitute the prize for an alternative of equal or greater value, should unforeseen circumstances so require. No correspondence will be entered into and no cash alternative will be offered.

13. The winners of the Competition will be notified by telephone or email within 14 days and sent their prize details within 21 days of the judge’s decision.

14. Entrants shall ensure that they have received the consent of all persons prominently featured in any image to the submission being used and published in the manner specified in these terms and conditions.

15. The submission shall be original work and shall not have been previously published or exploited in any part and will not infringe any copyright, right of privacy, right of publicity or personality or any other right whatsoever of any third party. Entrant’s should be the sole author of the submission and the sole unencumbered legal and beneficial owner of all rights of copyright and other rights to the submission.

16. By submitting an entry to the Competition, You give ICE and BRE Trust:
a. Permission for your entry to be printed and displayed at ICE and BRE Trust premises and grant ICE and BRE Trust a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to republish your Competition entry in print and electronic format for any not-for-profit purposes connected with the ICE or BRE Trust.
b. The right to use your name and town or city of residence for the sole purpose of identifying You as the author of your entry.

17. The Promoters reserve the right to publish any or all of the uploaded submissions on the ICE and BRE websites. The Promoters reserve the right to delete or remove any published submissions from the website at any time without prior notice to entrants.

18. Each prize winner hereby consents to the Promoters publishing their name and home-town in any media, in connection with this Promotion. Competition winners may be required to participate in publicity arising from this Promotion.

19. By entering the Competition, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the terms and conditions. All entry instructions form part of the terms and conditions.

20. The Promoters reserve the right to cancel or amend the terms of this competition at any time without prior notice.

21. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law and the courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
