On 4th November 2011, on Carnival night, a major section of old quayside wall collapsed in dramatic fashion in Bridgwater.
Well over 1000 tonnes of quayside wall and backing fill made its bid for freedom in an extraordinary collapse, leaving soft unstable material behind being eroded with every tide in the fast flowing River Parrett. Thankfully there were no casualties in the collapse, except for a stranded bicycle!
As Phase 1 of the stabilisation draws to a close, this event offers you the chance to find out more about the reconstruction and see the works so far first hand.
