In major upgrades and extensions of highway networks over the past sixty years, the use of post-tensioned concrete has been found to be an economically competitive form of construction. However, unexpected deterioration of post-tensioned concrete structures has become a major concern in many countries, despite established design and construction practices. As a consequence, significant expenditure has had to be diverted from capital works to the management of these structures.
This talk will outline of the performance of post-tensioned structures, the necessary reviews of investigations, reports, their processes and their findings. The implications for bridge owners/managers, and the essential lessons learnt will be revealed.
There is no requirement to book a place to attend, but for all enquiries please contact Joanne Mallard - joanne.mallard@ice.org.uk / 01752 766230.
