Speaker: Dr Colin Clinton, Arup, Executive Director for the RRIFC Project and former ICE President (2005)
On Friday 16 December 2011 the ground breaking ceremony for the Rose Rock International Finance Centre took place in the New Binhai Area of Yujiapu, of the city of Tianjin, Northern China.
Considered by many to be the 10th (and next) generation of Central Business Districts in the World, RRIFC is one of the largest Civil Engineering projects in mainland China today at 3.2 Billion US$.
The 1 million sq metre development incorporates a 588m high landmark tower, with arguably the tallest observation deck in the world. A joint venture between US Rockefeller’s Rose Rock Group and the Chinese Government’s Tianjin Innovative Financial Company, the development serves as a new model for urban design and community planning, and defines China’s future on the global design stage.
Colin will take us on a remarkable journey from conception, through creation, to current day reality of a new Chinese wonder when East meets West.
