Speaker: Simon Byford, Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd.

The extension to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) comprises two distinct components: an expansion of the EICC conference facilities and a stand- speculative office development.

The extension comprises a 2,000 sq.m additional function space, which is to be provided below the existing level of Morrison Street and will be linked to the existing EICC below street level. The expansion of the EICC also includes a 4-storey extension abutting the east side of the EICC which comprises a new access point and circulation space, café on the first floor and office space on the two upper floors.

The office development is to be directly above the multi purpose hall, extending to eight storeys above the existing street level on Morrison Street. The office component will provide approximately 17,500 sq.m of Grade A office accommodation

Simon Byford is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a project manager for Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd.
