Nigel Hosker of Hemsley Orrell Partnership will look at some of the examples of typical Victorian seaside pier engineering. Some of the more interesting aspects the upkeep of these Victorian coastal structures will be looked at focusing on design, materials and details used in this harsh environment and how we deal with problems today.
Nigel’s talk will focus on the nearly complete North Norfolk District Council’s £1.2m Cromer Pier Refurbishment works, looking at practical engineering and site works with input from the Contracts Manager Roger Speakman of FPE Site Operations.
This is a joint event with the East Anglian Regional Group of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
