Date 21 MARCH 2013
Time 08:30 - 17:25
Event Type Conference

The UK does not currently have sufficient capacity to process all waste that could be utilised for energy. An estimated 30 million tonnes go unexploited every year and more is exported to Europe.

At a time when government is trying to cut carbon emissions and sure-up energy supply it’s increasingly crucial that the potential of extracting energy from waste (EfW) be realised.

ICE Energy from Waste 2013 will address barriers to success within the industry and look at initiatives to ensure its future. The conference will consider the continuing blockers relating to planning, financing and community opposition that are strangling progression within the industry.

Topics covered include:

  • A unique case study from British Airways who are taking household waste and using it to create jet fuel
  • How burning sewage gas is allowing Severn Trent to generate significant amounts of electricity
  • An update on financing projects from the Green Investment Bank
  • An international case study on the ultra-energy efficient Filborna Waste to Energy facility in Malmo, Sweden
  • The workings of technologies including anaerobic digestion, gasification and pyrolysis
  • Sustainable skills in the EfW sector – what is lacking and how can government and industry respond to the shortage?

The third event in the ICE’s respected series will attract senior decision makers to central London to share best practice, network and discuss how to move the industry forward.

Energy from Waste 2013 represents the best value for money, comprehensive one-day programme of the year and is the key meeting for the whole of the supply chain
