Speaker: Iain Tinniswood, Graduate Civil Engineer, Mott MacDonald Ltd
The Helmand and Arghandab Rivers of Afghanistan supply all of Helmand's irrigation water through an extensive canal network that, through decades of neglect at the hands of crippling poverty and conflict, is in desperate need of rehabilitation. Approximately 80% of the Helmand Province population is employed through the agricultural industry and increasing production is pivotal in the battle to reduce the on-going poverty in the region.
Following a 21 month period in Afghanistan, Iain Tinniswood of Mott MacDonald will introduce and outline the key challenges in the implementation of small scale hydraulic works in one of the world's most volatile provinces.
Please note that the event is run on a first come first served basis, so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Tea/coffee/sandwiches 30 mins before start.
