High Speed Two (HS2) opportunity for the East Midlands - phase 2
Timings:18:00 - 20:00 (refreshments and networking 18:00-18:30)
With the imminent announcement by the Secretary of State for Transport on the Phase 2 (commonly known as the ‘Y’) of the HS2 line from Birmingham to Manchester and Leeds, we are delighted to welcome Ian Jordan, Director of Leeds, Manchester and Heathrow, High Speed Two Ltd, as speaker for this event.
The arrival of HS2 rail in the East Midlands is likely to have considerable economic importance for the region. Although construction and opening are many years away, it is not too early to shape our ideas as to how the region may take maximum economic advantage of such a link both to London and the North, and how on how it integrates with other transport infrastructure. The route to and through the East Midlands is expected to run broadly parallel to the M42 and cross the line of the A52 between Nottingham and Derby.
