ICE Wales Cymru North Wales Branch, Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and Association of Building Engineers (ABE) invite you to an evening lecture entitled:
Temporary Works, Roles and Responsibilities.
Speaker: Steve Parncutt BEng(Hons) CEng MICE

BS 5975 was revised in 2008. It now sets out the procedural controls for design, construction and supervision of all Temporary Works. It is important that all construction professionals understand current good practice. It is no longer acceptable to assume that design and supervision of Temporary Works is purely a contractor problem.
Steve will examine what are Temporary Works and the role and responsibilities of the various parties. He will draw attention to key messages from the HSE with regard to the safe design and execution of temporary works and will explain why the HSE are taking such an interest in this area of construction. Steve will then reflect on some recent Temporary Works collapses and draw upon the findings of recent research work relating to the prevention of catastrophic events in construction.
