Thanks to everyone who came along to our meeting at Aurecon a few weeks ago. We had a very useful discussion about sustainability and also signed into a seminar on the Professional Review from the staff at One Great George Street in London.
It was suggested that a Tuesday evening might be preferred for our next get together, and due to booking constraints at TTW, the next available Tuesday is 13/03/12. This fits in well with the ICE committee meetings as well so I hope you don’t mind leaving it a week or so longer than usual. Please come along to the Level 4 Meeting Space, TTW, 48 Chandos St, St Leonards, 2065 at 6pm.
I don’t think we discussed the next topic so I’ve gone ahead and chosen one! We have never done a “societal” type essay topic so let’s try that:
Discuss the role of the civil engineer in public relations, and in particular the public perception of civil engineering when something has gone wrong
For those who wish to look more specifically at the development objectives, please bring along your objectives and anything you have already got signed off. We will endeavour to have a couple of chartered engineers there who will be able to go through objectives and help give you ideas for how to get things signed off, or what to include in your career appraisal.
If no one objects, I hope to use you as a test audience for my professional review presentation. Anyone else reviewing in March is welcome to do the same!
Feel free to contact either of your Graduate reps on the NSW committee with ideas for future events, or if you can’t come but want to be involved – Jon Durnell (Jonathan.Durnell@aurecongroup.com) or Emma Kent (emma.kent@ttw.com.au)
