Brookfield Multiplex are currently progressing the construction of the New South Glasgow Hospital, on the site of the Southern General Hospital, and will comprise a new acute care hospital with 1,109 beds in singleroom accommodation, 256-bed children's hospital, 30 modern operating theatres and a separate laboratory block providing biochemistry, haematology and blood transfusion services.
This £842M development will give Glasgow one of the most advanced adult acute services hospitals in the UK and will be the biggest critical care complex in Scotland. It is the keystone facility within the Scottish Health Modernisation Strategy, which aims to lead the way in contemporary healthcare provision. The project will deliver new state-of-the-art healthcare facilities and high quality design environments, and will be completed and operational in summer 2015.
This is a rare opportunity to visit one of the biggest construction projects in Scotland, and to find out more about the design and construction from the people involved
