The first part of the presentation from MENCK will describe the method and systems used for installation of big monopiles for offshore windfarm foundation piles. In particular the presentation will address:

  • A general overview of foundation types for offshore windfarms
  • Details about large monopiles representing the majority of the actual foundations
  • Explanation of 3-D Method (Drive-Drill-Drive).
  • Pile driving spread for large monopiles
  • Examples of installation procedures
  • Noise mitigation methods
  • Future developments and challenges

The second part of the presentation from LDD will cover the following:

  • Overview of large diameter monopile drilling and under reaming within the 3-D installation method with a focus on the LD5000 drill: the world’s largest and most powerful pile top reverse circulation drill.
  • Subsea piling frame technology with a focus on LDD’s ‘StabFrame’ and recent project.
  • [Only if time allows: A case study: Bahamas jacket drilled and grouted pile installations in challenging ‘vuggy’ calcarenite]

Christoph Dytert is the Director of Sales and Marketing for MENCK GmbH and responsible for the rental and sales activities in all MENCK market segments including oil & gas, offshore wind, bridge & harbor and areas. Christoph graduated as mechanical engineer (Dipl.-Ing.) from Technical University Hamburg-Harburg, Germany and has more than 16 years of experience in different technical and sales functions and has worked since 2004 for MENCK.

Jason Clark is the founder and Managing Director of LDD Limited. He has enjoyed over 22 years’ experience of specialist drilling and offshore construction serving the oil & gas, marine civil construction, mining and renewables industries. Graduating with an ACSM Mining Engineering degree he has worked extensively all over the world and successfully led and managed many world class projects; some using techniques and equipment developed from his concepts and ideas.
