Event Type Lecture

Deaths and serious injuries on Indonesia’s roads are at very high levels and are increasing.
The economic cost of this unnecessary loss of health is huge – an estimated $ US 22 bn annually.
What can be done to change this waste of human lives?
Awareness that the problem is so large is the first step. More than 32,000 Indonesians were killed on the nations’ roads in 2012 and an estimated 300,000 were seriously injured. This needs to become well recognised for what it is: a human and economic tragedy.
This presentation will outline a number of steps that need to be taken at all levels of government – national, provincial and local - to stop the growth in lives lost and serious injuries incurred and achieve ongoing reductions over time.
Speaker
Eric Howard - Road Safety Advisor to Indonesia Infrastructure Initiative (IndII),
Whiting Moyne P/L, Melbourne
The presentation will be for about 45 minutes followed by a stimulating question and answer session.

Price: Rp 100,000 per head (for food only), with local engineers Free of Charge
