The use of computers is transforming many of the ways in which the construction industry operates. For example, an integrating strategy for design and construction across the disciplines is Building Information Modelling (BIM) where a range of applications draw data from a central data source. The lecture will discuss how competing methods are allowing the range feasibility of constructed facilities to be extended and will discuss some of the advantages and the pitfalls of the techniques being adopted and will including information on BIM.
Speaker: Professor Tim Broyd, FREng, FICE was formerly Group Technology and Innovation Director, Halcrow Group Ltd. In 2012, he took up the appointment of Chair in Built Environment Foresight, University College London.
