You are welcome to arrive from 17.30 and the presentation will begin at 18.00.
The Graduate and Student Committee presents an evening meeting to introduce the basics of temporary works. Bringing together two speakers from different sides of the industry, we have a representative from a temporary works contractor and a construction inspector from Health and Safety Executive. Everyone welcome.
Richard Seers is a Technical Director from Doka UK, a leading company in formwork technology. He will look at the basic principles of formwork design and operation focussing on concreting activities.
John Underwood is a Construction Inspector for the Health and Safety Executive, leading in temporary works. He will look at the management and procedures relating to of formwork and some examples of when temporary works can fail.
We hope that this will give a greater understanding for those involved in design and construction who come across temporary works. By improving our understanding of temporary works we can create better, more buildable designs and when out supervising works, know what to look for.
