Refreshments will be served at 18.00 and the presentation will commence at 18.30.
The presentation will describe how the use of ground improvement techniques can improve poor ground in the construction of the permanent way for major road and rail schemes. With these schemes it is not always possible to avoid areas of poor ground. With the introduction of rigid inclusions improvements can be made to the mass strength / stiffness. The use of these displacement and soil mixing techniques are also more sustainable than traditional solutions. We will look at three methods:
Cutter Soil Mixing (CSM)
Trench mixing
Controlled modulus columns (CMC)
Contributors to the presentation will be:-
Dr Dan Adams, Estimating Manager AGM, Bachy Soletanche
Gabriel Portillo, Chief Engineer, Vibro Menard
Matt Walpole, Engineer,Bachy Soletanche
Chris Merridew, Managing Director,Bachy Soletanche
