Date 14 MARCH 2012
Time 17:30 - 20:00
Event Type Meeting

The recent, widespread uptake of multi-beam sonar technology within the offshore survey industry has meant that swath bathymetry is becoming economic even within the nearshore zone.

As a result the Defra-funded National Network of Regional Coastal Monitoring Programmes, through collaboration with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s Civil Hydrography Programme, has been able to upgrade their single-beam bathymetric surveys to achieve 100% seafloor coverage to IHO Order 1A standard.

Our speaker, Andrew Colenutt, Coastal Projects Officer, will outline the considerable benefits of the high resolution bathymetry combined with co-recorded acoustic backscatter information, which can be used to produce detailed maps to inform the management of the coastal zone and marine resources and to produce indicative marine habitat mapping.
You must pre-book your place for this meeting, using online booking.  Note that you don’t have to be an ICE member to do this.  Follow the link and then click on ‘Register Now’.  You will need to supply a few details but will then be able to register for this and any other ICE events that are of interest to you.
