Construction contracts are often complex and multidisciplinary. The acquisition of contractual, engineering and management knowledge becomes indispensable for young arbitrators, engineers, solicitors and surveyors. Having inherited the success of the past few years, this year, the young groups of six different professional institutions are honoured to have invited six esteemed speakers from different disciplines to share their experiences and insights on contract management. Topics include Professional Communication, Tender and Contract Documentation, Implementation of Condition of Contract, Claims in relation to Unforeseen Ground Condition, Construction Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

This year’s final will feature ICE’s top three Chartered Professional Review (CPR) candidates of 2011. They will each be presenting and defending their CPR project reports to an audience, and the best candidate will receive the prestigious 2012 James Rennie Medal in recognition of their achievements.
Presentation by Michael Wright, Halley VI Lead Structural Engineer, AECOM This is a joint meeting with IStructE Beds and Adjoining Counties.

The presentation will review why Great Britain has so many listed buildings on its railway system, and how they were treated in the middle years of the twentieth century, before going on to look at how the Railway Heritage Trust was founded, how it works, and how it has given grants totalling almost £50million in its 26 years of existence.
