This year’s final will feature ICE’s top three Chartered Professional Review (CPR) candidates of 2012. They will each present and defend their CPR project reports to an audience. The best candidate will receive the prestigious 2013 James Rennie Medal in recognition of their achievements.

The presentation describes the use of practical structural monitoring solutions currently implemented in the construction industry in buildings, bridges, geotechnical-based structures and wind turbines. A number of case studies will be used to demonstrate the range of techniques used.

The prestigious and newsworthy new bridge, on the Wear adjacent to the A19, will be a major landmark to the North East. This Sunderland project will be used as a case study for CEEQUAL, the Sustainability Scheme for civil engineering projects.

The M62 J25 to 30 is one of the busiest sections of motorway in Europe with traffic volumes regularly reaching 160,000 vehicles per day and a higher than average accident rate. The project provides additional capacity on this 25 km stretch by converting it to a managed motorway scheme using ‘dynamic hard shoulder running’ and ‘all lane running’ whilst making best use of existing infrastructure and having minimum disruption to motorway traffic during construction
