Redcar, on the mouth of the River Tees, has a history of flooding and is at risk of coastal erosion which, if left unchecked, could progress by up to 60cm per year. The new sea defences protect 978 homes and 209 businesses from flooding and many more from the threat of an eroding coastline for the next 100 years. This presentation will give a brief history of the development of these works and detail their design and construction.
