Wind farms - the next generation The talk describes available wind resources in UK waters and the challenges of exploiting these in increasing water depths and more difficult seabed conditions. It will provide an overview of the existing offshore wind developments in the UK and will summarise current proposals for much larger wind farms around the UK coast.

Presentation by Andrew Rawlings, Lucy Bethell and Keith Macpherson of Mott MacDonald. The presentation will focus on the in-ground constraints encountered on the overall cb1 development, in particular the geotechnical and contamination issues encountered in the development area.
Presentation by Adrian Thompson, Project Manager, Mace. The presentation will address key aspects of construction from piling through to steel topping out. This will include innovation for the top down basement, craneage, temporary works, dimensional control and the off-site assembly for the steelwork for the upper elements known as the Spire. This is a joint event with Bedford Civil Engineering Society.
