Ronaldsway Airport – Runway Extension Project
Date: Wednesday 24 April 2013, 18.00 for 18.30.
Venue: Elmwood House, (part of IoM College), off Greenfield Road / Glencrutchery Road, Douglas, Isle of Man.
Speaker: Dr Piers Burroughs BEng (Hons) MSc PhD CEng MICE
The Airport Runway Project was one of the largest schemes in recent years to be constructed on the Isle of Man. The project encompassed the construction of a rock armoured promontory approximately 245m into the sea; the resurfacing, strengthening and extension of the existing runway and some taxiways; associated drainage and work to the aeronautical ground lighting. The scheme ensures the Airport meets the latest UK and International best practice in terms of runway end safety areas, addressed cyclical maintenance needs and provided a modest increase in runway length. The presentation will cover all aspects of the construction project.
Speaker
Piers Burroughs is a Director of Burroughs Stewart Associates and he was the Client’s Project Manager responsible for the successful delivery of the Airport Runway Project
