Our speaker is Mike King, Head of Underground Construction on the Crossrail Project. Mike is seconded into the Technical Directorate of the Project from Halcrow/CH2MHill and has responsibility for the technical aspects and the quality of delivery of the Crossrail tunnels.
Mike will provide an overview of this exciting and extremely large £14.8 billion project which will take the best part of a decade to complete.
His presentation will touch on the following areas:-
- Funding and where this is coming from
- The organisations that have been set up to deliver the project
- Economic benefits
- The geography of the route
- The facilities that will be provided
- Examples of the surface works, tunnels, stations, and over-site developments
- Construction challenges
- Rolling stock overview
- Opening strategy
