Time 18:00 - 20:00
Event Type Meeting

Refreshments will be available from 18.00 and the presentation will commence at 18.30.
In a London coffee house on a winter's day in 1818, the Institution of Civil Engineers was founded by a small group of idealistic young men. Today, ICE has over 80,000 members across the world. But, despite the tremendous advances in technology and the growth of the engineering profession, ICE has the same purpose as it did when it was founded nearly two centuries ago...
The Institution of Civil Engineers was formally founded on 2nd January 1818 and was the world’s first professional engineering body.  It has been a model for similar organisations all over the world.  Come along and find out why your Institution came into being and what’s happened since.
This popular and essential talk is a must for aspiring engineers, especially for all those under training agreements.  The content of the presentation may contribute towards completion of Development Objective E1 (Personal commitment to the profession and to professional standards).
Our speaker will be Mike Chrimes, Head of Engineering Policy and Innovation at One Great George Street.
If you would like a copy of the flyer for this event, please download it here.
