Slope stability has become an issue of major concern for Ground Engineering professionals. There have been widespread failures of natural slopes, cuttings and embankments as a result of changing weather patterns. These have had major impacts on our transportation infrastructure, with railways and roads put out of action due to landslides. The seminar will report on case studies, field monitoring and numerical analyses of slopes, both in the UK and in Canada. Attendees will benefit from practical lessons that can be learnt from the studies, involving serviceability problems and failures.
