This talk is intended to give engineers of all levels of experience an overview of the principles of Manual for Streets (MfS). Engineers need to be aware of MfS (1 & 2) as well as a number of other documents including DMRB and Home Zones, which will be briefly referred to. These documents are intended to help designers and local authorities achieve road layouts that contribute to “sustainable” developments and all engineers, and students, working in the built environment should know something about them.
