The resilience of the North East’s infrastructure is being threatened by climate change, bringing ever increasing extremes of weather. The region was almost cut off from the rest of the UK during last year’s floods that severed road and rail links. How are civil engineers improving the resilience of our energy supplies from the threat of terrorism and vandalism which could impact on our infrastructure networks, industry and homes?

The Annual Dinner of the ICE North East region will be held at the Marriott Hotel, Gosforth Park, Newcastle upon Tyne on Thursday 18 April 2013. This is one of the key events of the civil engineering calendar and coincides with ICE President Barry Clarke’s visit to the North East. The evening brings together a huge range of industry professionals and influencers and is an excellent opportunity to network, enjoy fine food and listen to distinguished guest speakers. Following the dinner, ICE President Barry Clarke, will present the Robert Stephenson Awards.

Teams of up to seven players are invited to attend at a subsidised cost of £80 per team. Student teams can participate at the reduced fee of £70 per team. At least two team players must be ICE members.

This seminar is designed to deliver information and guidance to cover both the principles and practice of ICE training. The sessions will provide you the opportunity to receive advice on training and mentoring and preparing candidates for the Professional Review.

Aimed particularly at those intending to sit CPR, CPRP or MPR in the next twelve months, this seminar, will concentrate on the day of the review itself, i.e. the presentation, the interview and the preparation for these (the written assignment is covered by the study groups set up in the spring and autumn).
