This event is jointly organized by The Institution of Civil Engineers, Hong Kong Association (ICE HKA), Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Civil Division (HKIE CVD) & The Hong Kong Institution of Highways and Transportation (HKIHT). The purpose of this event is providing a platform for members to show their talents in golf; to share their golf playing skills through competition and most importantly, to create the opportunities to enhance the mutual communication and cooperation between different associations. Delicious food, beautiful scenery and exciting golf game will let participants to enjoy an interesting day.

The project aims to widen Tolo Highway/Fanling Highway between Island House Interchange and Tai Hang to alleviate the traffic congestion problem on the Tolo Highway. Project cost is estimated of about HK$ 4,487 million. The technical site visit will concentrate on the works under Contract No. HY/2009/08

In this seminar, speaker Dr Raiss will introduce the rationale of the route, history and funding mechanism of Crossrail. He will then focus on the Central Section which runs under London city centre and compare two of its underground stations which were designed by URS, Paddington and Farringdon. Dr Raiss will also describe some of the innovation and cost-savings incorporated in the design, and give an update on the current status of this project.

At present, stormwater from Kowloon Bay, Ngau Tau Kok and Jordan Valley is discharged into Kai Tak Approach Channel (KTAC) through JVBC, which is an underground seven cell reinforced concrete stormwater drainage box culvert. And the polluted dry weather flow in JVBC has attributed to poor water quality and odour nuisance in KTAC.
The Joint Institution Cocktail Workshop is co-organized by CIArb-YMG, CIBSE-YEN, HKIE-YMC, HKIS-YSG, ICE-G&S and Law Soc-YSG on 4 May 2013.
