Part I of this Technical Note gives details of a study carried out to compare the design of waterfront earth-retaining structures by British and foreign codes of best practice. The details of, and differences between the various codes considered are discussed, and the results of calculations made are given in graphical and tabular form.
In part II the effects on costs of structures designed by the codes are given and recommendations are made based on the findings of the study.
Part III contains notes for guidance in the application of Rowe’s method for the design of sheet pile walls.
