BGA’s initiative to uncover myths in geotechnical engineering is welcome and reinforces the passion that exists in the community; a passion that transcends the discipline judging by the impact geotechnical engineers have upon civil engineering. This lecture is intended to challenge some current thinking and raise questions as to the future of geotechnical engineering.
