City regions - contributing to the future prosperity of the UK

Document type: Recorded lecture | Last updated: 8 JULY 2011

Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive, Manchester City Council ICE/Faber Maunsell Prestige Lecture 2008

There has been a clear recognition of the importance of city regions over recent years.  City regions form the economic and urban cores of their surrounding areas.  Not only do they drive regional economic growth, but they are also critical to the UK's economic performance.

Sir Howard Bernstein sets out his vision for city regions and looks at the statutory sub regional arrangements - what they will mean in reality, how they might lead to greater productivity and growth, and how local communities could benefit.
