This ICE briefing sheet focuses on the practical and theoretical applications of energy storage. Although energy storage can comprise any type of storage system, this document excludes comments on primary fuel storage such as coal heaps, onshore and offshore gas or oil product storage. Attention is drawn to the use of energy storage associated with the power industry at the large scale and small scale level.
