In recent years there has been an increase in the use of behavioural based safety programmes and behavioural approaches to improving safety performance. But do they work?
- Do they have a positive impact on overall performance, in addition to safety improvement or do they occupy precious time with extra procedures, adding little value?
- Do they only work at a project level or can they work across a business and our industry as a whole?
- Is this Behavioural Safety or should it be Behavioural Leadership?
Speakers at the ICE & Costain Prestige Health and Safety Lecture: Safety and Simplicity focussed on whether Simplicity and Behavioural Safety can give us a truly sustainable step change in safety performance and whether we should really be talking about Behavioural Leadership.
This excellent lecture last 1 hour 26 minutes but was interrupted at just under the hour by a network failure and then re-started. This however did not deter the enthusiasm for the online attendees who agreed with the comment below from Ruta Ehigie:
"Excellent and very interesting presentations for what is deemed to be a 'boring' topic."
