The National Infrastructure Plan (NIP) outlines the Government’s long-term vision for national infrastructure and its aspiration to attract large volumes of private investment. The Institution of Civil Engineers has consistently campaigned for a more strategic approach to infrastructure development and has supported Infrastructure UK (IUK) in its work on the NIP. This briefing identifies some of the key challenges that will need to be addressed in the updated version of the NIP due in the second half of 2011 (‘NIP 2011’).
