New Technologies for the Treatment of Biodegradable Municipal Waste

Defra's New Technologies Demonstrator Programme (NTDP) was established to enable pilot-scale trials of new technologies for the treatment of biodegradable municipal solid waste (BMW). A programme of research, onitoring and evaluation associated with each of the pilot plant has provided comprehensive data on their costs, ffectiveness, strengths, weaknesses and general operational performance.

This evening lecture, linked to the August 2011 issue of Waste and Resource Management, presented and discussed the results of this monitoring programme and the lessons learned for the treatment of BMW.
