Guidance on the issue of noise and vibration in transport construction is fragmented and is more readily accessed by specialists in particular areas of technical expertise than those who need to reach agreement on the difficult, and sometimes contentious matters involved. This guidance publication has been produced to gather information from a wide range of sources and to present it in a manner that will help informed communication, discussion and decision making by all parties, in particular those with no or little knowledge or experience of noise and vibration from road and rail.
The guide aims to provide a common source of reference giving information and technical guidance reflecting the current understanding of the issues and accepted approaches to decision making and execution.
