The Rosyth CVF Infrastructure Upgrade was a crucial early milestone in the programme to assemble the UK’s new Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers within the No.1 Dock at Rosyth. Winner of the 2011 Saltire Society Award for Civil Engineering, the project’s success is defined as much by the innovation in temporary works as it is by the massive permanent structures required to accommodate the new carriers. The presentation will provide and insight into the creative thinking behind the design, planning and construction of these temporary works with a particular focus around the Direct Entrance to the non-tidal basin from the River Forth.
Dougie Grant was Project Manager at Rosyth and is now Operations Manager for the BAM Nuttall business in Scotland. Giles Waley is Engineering Manager with BAM Nuttall in Scotland and the engineering lead for all temporary works solutions on the CVF project. Mike Murray is Site Development Manager at Rosyth for Babcock Marine and Client for the CVF Project.
