Sustainability is a key issue which must be addressed in the design, construction and lifelong maintenance of civil engineering structures

In this lecture, Professor Adrian Long discusses:

- the use of innovative in-situ testing equipment to assess the long term durability of concrete
- designs which allow repairs to be carried out on a bridge whilst it's in use
- innovative structural designs aimed at extending life spans with minimal additional cost
