This lecture focuses on the future of the rail freight network beyond 2014 and its impact in a wider transportation context. Over this period, the UK is likely to see the completion of new high speed rail routes and covers the time-horizon of the Eddington Report which has had a major influence on national freight transport policy. Lord Berkeley offers his perspective as Chairman of the influential Rail Freight Group.
