The State of the Nation report has been compiled each year by a panel of recognised experts drawn from the various fields of expertise across ICE's membership. Its aim is to stimulate debate and to highlight the actions that needed to improve the state of the nation´s infrastructure.
State of the Nation 2013: Transport
Our next report will look at the state of the UK’s transport infrastructure, to inform government policy and decisions through this electoral cycle and beyond.
Much has changed since our last State of the Nation: Transport report in 2008, with recent public debate dominated by the future of our airports and the opportunities and challenges presented by high speed rail. A short briefing summarising the current transport situation is available to download as guidance.
Evidence gathering
ICE began its formal State of the Nation evidence gathering with an open ‘Call for Evidence’ from 9 January to 13 February 2013, to hear from its members and from external organisations and experts. While the Call is now closed, you can still read the questions it asked.
ICE evidence gathering continues with interviews, workshops and further research, and we aim to publish the findings in late June.
While the formal Call for Evidence has closed, ICE is happy to consider further contributions. Any such correspondence should be sent by email to SoNTransport@ice.org.uk.
