A guide to the ICE Library

The Library staff have put together a brief guide for members on how to access different types of information in the ICE Library.

This includes how to find technical information, how to borrow books and reports, and how we can help your find a journal or paper…

Looking for information on a technical problem, topic, structure or project?

There are a variety of ways to do this:

You will need to log in to use most of these with your MyICE details, and with your membership number for the library catalogue.

Do you want to borrow a book, report or standard?

To find out how to do this, simply visit the information resources section of our website.

In fact, you may not need to borrow at all. The ICE Library offers direct, remote access for members to a range of electronic books.

The books are located under the heading E-resources and the library staff will be able to give you usernames and passwords on request. Just email or call and the library and we will be happy to help

Do you want to find a journal or conference paper?

The ICE Library can supply photocopies, scanned copies or PDFs of papers. There is a charge for this service, and you will need to complete a copyright declaration form.

The Institution’s own journal and conference papers are made available through the ICE Virtual Library, a rich resource for information on previous projects and structures.

You will have to log in to access the Virtual Library and your member discounts. The login is different to the one used for the library web catalogue. Call or email us if you have any problems logging in.

Posting and emailing directly to you

The ICE Library stocks books, reports and journals from many other publishers, as well as material published by ICE. Staff can help by posting or emailing books and papers directly to you.
