Housed mainly on the first floor of the Institution’s headquarters building, the Library has one of the largest, most comprehensive collections on civil engineering in the world.
Its Archives and the database of the Panel for Historical Engineering Works have valuable records on the history of the profession and details of older structures.

- All ICE and Thomas Telford Ltd. publications: including the contract forms from the first edition onwards and conference proceedings from the ICE and its associated societies. Increasingly, ICE reports are available on the website for download.
- Complete set of ICE Proceedings, from the beginning, including a lending set.
- Access to the ICE Virtual Library, where papers from the ICE Proceedings can be downloaded for a fee.
- Geotechnique, both in hard copy and on CD-ROM.
- Audio-visual collection of videos and slides, available for loan, as well as the Einstein Network programmes (for viewing in the Library only).
- Complete set of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges.
