Affiliate membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers is open to those who work or have an interest in the field of the built and natural environment and wish to take part in the Institution’s activities.

Am I eligible?
If you work in a field associated to civil engineering, such as law and geology, or you are a civil engineer not pursuing professional qualification with ICE you may be eligible to become an Affiliate Member of the ICE.
How to make an application
To make an application to become an Affiliate member, you must submit the following documentation:
- Affiliate application form
- Subscription fee
- The signatures of two sponsors, one of whom must be a Professionally Qualified Member of the Institution
- Certified copy of your academic qualification(s)
- Statement of training and experience or detailed CV

1. Do I need to hold a qualification to become an Affiliate Member?
No qualification is required to become an Affiliate Member. Membership is open to those that work or have an interest in the built Environment.
2. I am based overseas can I still become an Affiliate Member?
Yes, Affiliate membership is available for both UK and Overseas individuals and any overseas individuals wishing to apply should follow the process outlined in the How to apply section.
3. I am a Graduate who wishes to transfer to Affiliate, do I still need to provide Sponsors?
If you are a current Graduate member of the ICE and wish to transfer to Affiliate you are not required to provide sponsors with your application.
