Non Standard Routes

ICE welcomes applications for membership from those those who are professionally qualified members of other institutions or those whose academic qualifications do not meet the required Educational Base.

Technical Report Route 

If you do not have the necessary formal academic qualifications required for your desired grade but have sufficient experience within the broad area of civil engineering, you could be eligible for this route.

European Directive Route

If you are professionally qualified as a civil engineer within the European Union, you could be eligible for this route.

Mutual Exemption Agreement 

If you are professionally qualified overseas you may be eligible to become a Member (MICE) of ICE and register with the Engineering Council as a Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Engineering Council Organisation

If you are registered as CEng, IEng or EngTech member with the Engineering Council, you could be eligible to become a Member (MICE) of ICE.

Institution of Civil Engineers Surveyors Mutual Recognition Agreement 

ICE welcomes applications for membership from Members and Fellows of the Institution Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES).  

Experience Civil Engineer Pathway

The Experience Civil Engineer Pathway is intended to provide an alternative option for potential members who are operating within the Civil Engineering industry in a capacity where they oversee and are responsible for the work undertaken by ICE’s professionally qualified members.
