Reinstatement

Reinstatement of your membership is not automatic if you have allowed it to lapse. It will depend on your grade of membership and the length of time you have been off the ICE’s membership roll.

Reinstate via MyICE

All members (except students) who have been off the ICE membership roll for less than 5 months can now reinstate their membership online via their MyICE account. Please note that you only be able to reinstate via this method if you have been off the ICE membership roll for less than 5 months.

Reinstatement of Student membership

If you are a previous student member (who did not transfer to graduate membership by 1st May of the year following graduation); or a previous student member now eligible for graduate membership (having completed a first degree course), and wish to reinstate, you must apply for graduate membership. The current graduate subscription rate will be payable.

If you believe that you are still eligible for student membership (for example if your first degree course is still in progress), or wish further advise on reinstating your student membership contact the ICE Member Services team on tel: +44 (0)207 665 2227 or email: subs@ice.org.uk.

Please note that you cannot be reinstated to the grade of student if you have in the past been a graduate member, affiliate member or a Professionally Qualified Member (TMICE, AMICE, MICE, MICE IEng, MICE CEng).

Reinstatement of graduate/affiliate membership

If you are a previous graduate or affiliate member who resigned by 31st December of the last year of membership or did not renew their subscription by 1st May, please contact ICE Member Services team on tel: +44 (0)207 665 2227 or email: subs@ice.org.uk for advice on how to reinstate your membership.

Please note that if we do not already hold a certified copy of your qualification, you will be asked to supply this as part of the reinstatement.

Graduate/Affiliate Reinstatement Options

  • For resigned graduate members (resigned by 31st December of the last year of membership), the current graduate subscription rate is due.
  • For lapsed graduate/affiliate members (who did not renew their subscription by 1st May): the outstanding fee for the year of lapsing, plus current subscription rate, is due.
  • For resigned graduate/affiliate members (resigned by 31st December of the last year of membership), the current subscription rate is due.

If you are eligible for the concessionary (low income) rate please complete a concessionary rate application form and send to Subscriptions Department, ICE, One Great George Street, London SW1P 3AA or email the completed form to subs@ice.org.uk.

Validity of Academic Assessment Result 

Please note that if your graduate membership was gained by having undertaken an academic assessment and you have allowed your graduate membership to lapse you may no longer hold the same level of eligibility for ICE membership and a further academic assessment may be required.

Reinstatement of Professionally Qualified Membership  

The reinstatement process for professionally qualified members is different depending on how many years you are off the membership roll. For further guidance on the ICE reinstatement process please refer to the reinstatement guidance.

Fellowship/Companion

If you wish to be reinstated to the grade of Fellow or Companion you should contact the Fellowship Coordinator at fellowship@ice.org.uk or +44 (0)207 665 2174 for further information.

Reinstatement of Engineering Council Registration

Reinstatement of your EC registration is not automatic if you have allowed it to lapse. It will depend on the length of time you have been off the Engineering Council Registration roll and will be relevant to the level of registration held at the time of it lapsing.
