The North East Heritage Panel of the Institution of Civil Engineers is a group of civil engineers who are interested in the history of the profession, and have published regional guides and leaflets on the subject.
North East panel members also link in with the national Panel for Historical Engineering Works (PHEW). They identify historical engineering works that are worthy of recording and, in some cases, preserving for posterity and record on the online database.
Members of the panel are keen to promote North East engineering heritage and a number of talks on varying subjects are offered to groups such as U3A, History Societies and the like. Heritage walks describing some of Newcastle's historic buildings, structures and celebrities are also provided. Please contact Michael Taylor for more information on these talks, walks and other aspects of the panel's work.
