Invitation to contributors
The ICE South West Region in association with PIANC – the World Association for Waterborne Transport – is organising a technical seminar on Engineering the South West Ports, to be held in Exeter on Friday 15th March 2013.
Its scope will comprise the engineering challenges and achievements that have been faced and overcome by the ports of the South West, and present-day developments and future aspirations.[ Note that the SW Region runs from Gloucester to Penzance to Poole and includes the Isles of Scilly and the Channel Islands.] The seminar is to include
Historical accounts of engineering design and construction of SW ports
Development and adaptation of port infrastructure
Maintenance and refurbishment of port infrastructure
Current challenges and future plans for the SW Ports.
Offers of presentations (20 – 30 minutes) at the seminar are invited.
