BGA announces Cooling Prize Shortlist

The Cooling Prize was established by Dr Leonard Cooling to encourage junior engineers and it is now in its 44th year.  The BGA was pleased that a number of today's young engineers entered the competition, three of whom have been chosen to present their papers at a special BGA Evening Meeting on 5th March 2013 at the University of Glasgow, hosted jointly by the University and the Scottish Geotechnical Group.

The finalists are Frederick Levy of the University of Southampton/National Grid UK, Martyn Willan of Golder Associates and Piotr Kowalczyk of Donaldson Associates.

While the judges deliberate, Prof David Muir Wood of the University of Dundee with deliver a special lecture on "Rooting for Sustainable Performance (modelling interaction of roots and soil)".
